Departing La Paz direct to Puerto Vallarta
We’re 48 hours into our estimated 74hr passage. This one has been a little challenging due to the large swell south of Cabo.
Although we’re currently motoring with light winds on the nose, we sailed most of yesterday on a beam reach at an average speed of 7kts.

Currently abeam the prison colony Maria island chain. I just set the waypoint for Punta Mita. This the the northern point for Banderas Bay and Puerto Vallarta.
On the bow, a boobie laid claim to the pulpit and isn’t allowing other boobies to land. It’s keeping me entertained. I think it might be a red footed boobie?

They say it takes 2-3 days to get used to the watch schedule and being underway. We’re using a modified Swedish watch schedule. Essentially your watches get shorter the later in the evening you pull them. But, as there’s only 2 of us aboard, if we get tired we can just wake the other for relief.

Today is mid-day of day 3 with one more night and day to go. We’ll probably get in to PV early tomorrow morning the 27th.
From the cockpit of Volare, we’re as rested and as comfortable as can be given the seas, slowly making our way to our next destination where we’ll settle down for 3-4 months.
For those of you interested, the water temp here is 89.2°.

Jodi and I were talking this week and wondering how you guys were doing…looks like all is well. Stay safe out there!
Good to hear from you! Say ‘hi’ to Jodi for me… and ask her if Jon still has the sailing bug. They can do this!
Thanks for reading.
Rich and I were wondering how you got the boat from PV to Colorado so quickly 🙂
We’ve been incredibly un-busy in PV. Sort of just waiting out the hurricane season. Pretty amazing storms nightly here.
We had to take the truck to Colorado after we moved the boat to PV from La Paz. Long story.. but the truck wasn’t allowed to cross over to the mainland on the ferry.
Hope all’s we’ll up there.. ask Rich if he’s ever going to retire.
🙂
Great to hear from you. Happy to hear you are harbored safely thru the hurricane season. Hugs to Jessica. No retirement plans for the near future. Stay safe!
